MONDAY (6/2)
- Instant Star (The N, 8pm EST): Season premiere. “Jude distracts herself with work on her third album in an attempt to avoid choosing between Jamie and Tommy.” Someone who chooses to work because of men? That’s unheard of!
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm): “Eleven of the bachelors find themselves backstage at Ellen Degeneres’ talk show, where they show off their ‘Ellen’ boxer shorts.” Okay, I’m confused. Who exactly are they trying to impress?
- Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods (MTV, 10pm): Series premiere. I do hope these girls realize there’s no Jake Gyllenhaal at the end of this tunnel.
- The Mole (ABC, 10pm): Series return. “The fifth season kicks off with one of the contestants ends up stranded alone on a deserted beach.” WARNING: Fake idol useless on this show.

While the show didn’t come close to American Idol-sized numbers, the reintroduction of The Moment of Truth did well enough to help FOX win another Tuesday night.
8pm
- A repeat of NCIS* (9.7 million, 1.8/6 in 18-49) was the most-watched show yesterday.
- The Moment of Truth (3.1/10) returned to 7.3 million viewers.
- Most Outrageous Moments (6.1 million, 1.8/5) improved by 2.1 million.
- According to Jim* (1.8/5) clocked in at 5 million.
- Beauty and the Geek* (0.6/2) trailed far behind at 1.3 million.

- American Gladiators (NBC, 8pm): “A tree climber tries to rise above a SWAT officer.” If tree boy gets a chance at the wall, his opponent will have no choice but to gas him.
- Flavor of Love 3 (VH1, 9pm): “The cast of Season 3 reunites.” I often wonder what a sober Brigitte Nielsen thinks about this.
- Denise Richards: It’s Complicated (E!, 10pm): “Denise goes on a blind date with a so-called regular guy.” When you’re getting alimony and child support from your celebrity ex, you can afford to go out with “regular guys”.
- Living Lohan (E!, 10:30): The title of the tonight’s premiere is “Mommy Will Fix It.” I hope she’s referring to Ali’s hair.

- Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm): “Blair comes to Serena’s defense and faces off with Georgina.” Well, I don’t think this is a fair fight at all. Georgina’s got mad Buffy skills!
- Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm): Will it come down to the Olympic gold medalist, NFL’s Man of the Year or the Chilean actor? Never underestimate a man who telenovela fans supporting him.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30pm): “Ted has an accident, and his close call with death finds him reevaluating his life and his relationship with Stella.” Yeah, I have no idea how he’s going to share her with Zach Braff either.
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 9pm): Season premiere. “DeAnna Pappas, the finalist who was spurned in 2007 by Brad Womack, is now dispensing the roses herself.” Why would anyone want to win if losing meant headlining your own show?

Top Chef Chicago: Andrew Gets a Raw Deal
Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Drama, Food & Home, Prime Time, Reality, Bravo, Cable, Top Chef, Editorial, News,
If three previous seasons of Top Chef have taught contestants anything, it is that you always have to follow the judges’ rules for each challenge. If you don’t, you are the most likely target to be sent packing. In Top Chef, taste is subjective. So all things being equal, the rules are the deal breaker.
Andrew is the latest chef to learn that lesson the hard way. His over-confident attempt to create a healthy sushi box lunch for Chicago cops (???) fell flat with the judges, both because it didn’t taste very good and also because it was missing a food group required for the challenge.
The spastic 30-year-old New York sous chef joins Nikki who went home last week after her ineffectual role in the “Wedding Wars” episode. That leaves just six chefs left to fight it out for this season’s title.

Although FOX has ruled Tuesday for quite some time, the network’s lineup has seen its ups and downs. This week, both American Idol and Hell’s Kitchen rebounded from recent ratings dips.
8pm
- American Idol (24 million, 8.6/24 in 18-49) grew by 2.8 million.
- NCIS (14.7 million, 3.0/9) improved by 900,000.
- According to Jim (1.4/4) settled in with 4.4 million.
- Most Outrageous Moments (4 million, 1.2/3) had a 200,000 decrease.
- Beauty and the Geek (1.5 million, 0.7/2) was down a notch.

MONDAY (5/12)
Tonight’s finales: The Hills, Medium, Samantha Who?, The Bachelor
- American Gladiators (NBC, 8pm): Season Two premiere includes new gladiators (‘Rocket’ and ‘Jet’). Seriously, how intimidating could a smiling Gladiator be?
- Bones (FOX, 8pm): “When the body of an aspiring singer (Ace Young of American Idol) is discovered, Booth and Brennan probe a club’s open-mike night.” Uhh—which one was Ace again?
- Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm): “An embarrassed Serena resurrects some troubling old habits as she continues to hide the truth from Dan.” If he only knew she’d been sharing her jeans with three other girls.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30pm): “Britney Spears returns as Abby, who is now dating Barney.” First Robin Sparkles, now Britney. I’m not sure if that’s a step up or down for Barney.

Tuesday Ratings: Viewers Reunite with Dancing with the Stars
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Food & Home, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Hell’s Kitchen, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, Ratings,
Although FOX easily handled another Tuesday night, a special two-hour Dancing with the Stars block made a nice dent in the competition.
8pm
- American Idol (21.2 million, 8.2/23 in 18-49) took a 3 million hit.
- NCIS (13.8 million, 2.8/8) underperformed by 600,000.
- The first hour of Dancing with the Stars (10.5 million, 2.4/7) did nearly 6 million better than According to Jim.
- Most Outrageous Moments (4.2 million, 1.3/4) was up a smidge.
- Beauty and the Geek (1.6 million, 0.7/2) did the same.

MONDAY (5/5)
- Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9:00): (The script was written by CSI scribes.) “George Eads (CSI) has a cameo in which a CSI team investigates a death at Charlie’s house.” I know Charlie wanted to stop Denise’s reality show, but this is quite a sweeps stunt.
- House (FOX, 9pm): “House believes that an actor (Jason Lewis) on his favorite soap is seriously ill after observing his symptoms on television, so he decides to intervene.” If I had known something like that would work, I would have kidnapped Smith Jerrod a long time ago.
- Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30pm): “Sam’s affair with Todd continues while he’s still seeing a clueless Chloe.” I’m sorry—why doesn’t Sam just kick her out of her apartment again? She does own the thing, doesn’t she?
- CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm): “Alexx is stunned when her son is the prime suspect in a murder investigation, and any help she offers could prove costly.” Buh-bye, Khandi!

Top Chef Chicago: Mark Out, Antonia Back in the Game
Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Food & Home, Kids, Prime Time, Reality, Bravo, Cable, Top Chef, Editorial, News,
Time now to check in on what’s cooking in the Top Chef Chicago kitchen. The last two weeks have seen pretty boy/chef Ryan and the remaining half of the lesbian couple/competitors, Jen, go home. (Girlfriend Zoi went home in episode 5.)
This week New Zealand native and resident mop head Mark got the axe but not before questioning whether head judge Tom Colicchio, likes him personally. Sadly Mark, I think it might just be your food. This week’s challenge involved cooking for kids and he made vegetable curry, you do the math.
This week also saw single-mom Antonia get back in the game in a big way (last week she nearly went home thanks to a badly improvised dish involving polish sausage). That was then, this is now. Last night, Antonia won both the Quickfire and Elimination challenges.
